Episode 22 - Gordon Gebert
Also available on Spotify, iTunes, and pretty much everywhere pods are cast! (just search for "15 minutes jamie berger").
Gordon Gebert is my friend D'arcy Gebert's father. He's the Dean of the Spitzer School of Architecture at City College of New York. But, more interesting for 15 Minutes purposes, he was also a child film actor in the 1950s.
From 1949 until the early 60s, he acted in Hollywood in movies such as "The Flame and the Arrow" (with Burt Lancaster as a swashbuckling Robin-Hood type), noir films such as the train gangster caper "Narrow Margin," and perhaps his biggest role, and perfect for this time of year, "Holiday Affair" with Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh (in which a WWII widow and her little scamp of a sun - Gebert - have to choose between suitors - it's available online on Amazon, and it's fun! See poster and trailer below). We talked about his childhood fame, and it's effect on his life to this day.
Classic Christmas romantic comedy stars Janet Leigh ("Psycho," Touch of Evil") as a poor young widow torn between a boring successful businessman and a romantic ne'er-do-well. Oscar-nominee Robert Mitchum ("Cape Fear," "Crossfire") and Wendell Corey ("Rear Window," "Sorry, Wrong Number") co-star. #Trailer #WB
