Episode 28 - Shonali Bhowmik!

Shonali Bhowmik
does a LOT:

She’s the leader of the indie rock band Tigers and Monkeys  for which she is the songwriter, singer, and guitar player. She was one of the leaders of Atlanta’s Ultrababyfat which was featured on tour with David Cross in the DVD “Let America Laugh.” In the past, her bands have shared the stage with PJ Harvey, Ted Leo, Pavement, The Shins, and Sleater Kinney.

Based in NYC for the past several years, Shonali co-hosts the Podcast We Don’t Even Know  with her friend Christian Felix, which they record monthly in front of a live audience at Hifi in the East Village. Guests - as on this here show - range from the fascinating unfamous to more recognizable names such as Jeneane Garafalo, Ambery Tamblyn, Starlee Kine, David Cross, Amy Ryan, Todd Barry, Jena Friedman . . . .

Bhowmik has a comedy web series called “Shayla Hates Celebrities

She’s also a corporate lawyer by day, which also comes up.

She’s also met Barack Obama a few times - no big deal - she tells us about the first.

I neglected to ask Shonali about whether she’s had any success in keeping her New Year’s resolution to get more sleep. Considering all she does, I doubt it.

Also, I also butcher my wife Anja’s meeting-Howard-Stern story herein.

Topics: music, Maron, Terry Gross, Gene Simmons excitement at his Kiss credit card, Trump, David Cross, podcasting, wanting attention from friends and strangers, the list goes on!

P.S. It was photographer Nat Finkelstein from whom Andy Warhol is said to have taken his famed (15 minutes of) fame quote from. (Listen and you'll know why I'm mentioning this here).

P.S. Two great songs are also included in this episode, for the same low price of FREE, unless you’d like to CONTRIBUTE via Patreon or Paypal - which, if you enjoy this show and want it to continue, please do, if you can.
